This page lists pathways for each country based on the current emissions and economies of each. You can look at the current production of greenhouse gases as well as see the trajectories of future emissions depending on "business as usual" vs a variety of economic and political plans. Scroll down on each page to see the list of suggestions to help create an climate action plan if you don't already have one for your country, region, or organization.
The information in this section is organized into continents and their countries using this systems which was voted on in r/planeteerhandbook
En-ROADS Climate Solutions Simulator "is a fast, powerful climate solutions scenario tool for understanding how we can achieve our climate goals through changes in energy, land use, consumption, agriculture, and other policies. The simulator focuses on how changes in global GDP, energy efficiency, technological innovation, and carbon price influence carbon emissions, global temperature, and other factors. It is designed to provide a synthesis of the best available science on climate solutions and put it at the fingertips of groups in policy workshops and roleplaying games. These experiences enable people to explore the long-term climate impacts of global policy and investment decisions.
En-ROADS is being developed by Climate Interactive, Ventana Systems, UML Climate Change Initiative, and MIT Sloan.
This guide provides background on the dynamics of En-ROADS, tips for using the simulator, general descriptions, real-world examples, slider settings, and model structure notes for the different sliders in En-ROADS."
Green Infrastructure Effectiveness Database "This database is a compilation of literature resources documenting the effectiveness and economics of nature-based solutions and Green Infrastructure for coastal resilience."
Rewiring America: Track Your Local Pace of Progress "These projections from Rewiring America worked backwards from the emissions targets for 2050, and forward from current sales of machines for cooking, water heating, space heating, transportation, and rooftop solar to set a number of new clean electric machines that must be sold each year to reduce emissions from fossil-fueled machines. Type your city, county, or state into the search bar to get those numbers broken down for your area, by each machine category.
While creating this tool, one of things we found is that some individual communities and states are leading the way: their goals are bolder than the rest of the country and so don’t match the path laid out in our data. That’s a great problem to have. So our tool should not be considered the only source of its kind -- but one that reflects only one of the possible paths to decarbonization."
Multiple Opportunities for Scaling Up Climate Action. Panel (a) " presents selected mitigation and adaptation options across different systems. The left hand side of panel a shows climate responses and adaptation options assessed for their multidimensional feasibility at global scale, in the near term and up to 1.5°C global warming. As literature above 1.5°C is limited, feasibility at higher levels of warming may change, which is currently not possible to assess robustly. The term response is used here in addition to adaptation because some responses, such as migration, relocation and resettlement may or may not be considered to be adaptation. ..."
Climate Analytics "Delivering cutting-edge science, analysis and support to accelerate climate action and keep warming below 1.5°C"
Anthropocene Alliance (A2) "has almost 300 member-communities in 41 U.S. states and territories. They are impacted by flooding, toxic waste, wildfires, and drought and heat — all compounded by reckless development and climate change. The consequence is broken lives and a ravaged environment.
The goal of A2 is to help communities fight back. We do that by providing them organizing support, scientific and technical guidance, and better access to foundation and government funding. Most of all, our work consists of listening to our frontline leaders. Their experience, research, and solidarity guide everything we do, and offer a path toward environmental and social justice.
Supported by outstanding partner organizations with expertise in engineering, hydrology, public health, planning, and the law, A2 leaders have successfully halted developments in climate-vulnerable areas; implemented nature-based hazard mitigation strategies; organized home buyouts; and pushed for clean-ups at superfund sites, toxic landfills, and petrochemical plants.
We support everyone we can, but our special priority is people who have suffered the worst environmental impacts for the longest time; that usually means low-income, Black, Latinx, Native American and other underserved communities.
To learn about our policies, read our A 10-Point Platform on Climate Change."
Smart Growth America "empowers communities through technical assistance, advocacy and thought leadership to create livable places, healthy people, and shared prosperity. We work with elected officials at all levels, real estate developers, chambers of commerce, transportation and urban planning professionals, and residents to improve everyday life for people across the country through better development."
C2ES: US State Climate Action Plans (Interactive) "In this map we have included states which have developed PCAPs, as the plans demonstrate a decisive first step toward meaningful climate action. However, implementation of these plans may depend on external funding, and submission of a plan cannot be interpreted as a standalone commitment. We have noted which states were awarded implementation grants, indicating that they are most likely to follow through with their priority measures."
Coastal Flood Exposure Mapper "Jumpstart community discussions about local coastal flooding hazards by developing maps that show the people, places, and natural resources at risk."
PIRG: Interactive Map of Lawn Mower and Leaf Blower Policies "This interactive map shows which cities, states and companies have taken action to cut pollution and noise from gas-powered lawn equipment."
