The politics of the USA have an outsized impact on other countries around the world. Not only have they started a number of wars in other countries, but their energy and commerce systems greatly influence other country's policies and economics.
In addition to this, we are at a critical time in Earth's history where every choice will help decide if we can actually reign in climate change, or if we will simply shoot past the tipping points into extinction.
In recent years, there has been a concerning increase in voter roll purges across the U.S., where eligible voters are being removed under the guise of "cleaning up" outdated registrations. This practice, often fueled by new state laws and pressure from certain political groups, disproportionately affects minority, young, and low-income voters. For example, in states like Georgia and Texas, hundreds of thousands of voters have been challenged or removed, with many cases citing unreliable data sources like the National Change of Address list. Some challenges even bypass formal procedures, making it harder for voters to know they've been removed and to defend their right to vote.

It's important to check your voter registration regularly because of these purges. Some eligible voters may unknowingly find themselves removed, especially in states where aggressive "list maintenance" practices are being implemented. By staying vigilant and ensuring your registration is up to date, you can avoid being disenfranchised, particularly in critical election years when these efforts are most prevalent.
Checking your registration is a proactive way to protect your voting rights and ensure your voice is heard in upcoming elections.
