This site is under construction 🚧🙂🚧 Message the mods at our Reddit community if you'd like to help. We'd be excited to have it!
After working on one of these options please leave a note below (by the original request) along the lines of [check my work] or a new request if something else needs to be done on that page.
When everything looks right, we can probably just delete the request to keep this section tidy.
Feel free to create a new request if you feel we're missing something, or you start a page or topic and don't feel you'll be able to complete it on your own. During our meetings we should keep an eye on this section, clearing out old requests and making sure new projects get listed here.
Types of Activism A kid with unsupportive parents wanted ideas for under-the-radar type activism options. I'd like to create a page along these lines for sneaky way even kids or people who don't have much control over their lives can help the planet.
Types of Activism still needs to be fleshed out and tidied up.
Think we'll need pages for different consumables branching from this page, including a fashion guide. I'd like to include info for producers focusing on what materials and techniques actually increase the lifespan of products, vs which contribute to "planned obsolescence".
Farmers' Market Directory - if anyone's got time, this could use some fleshing out, especially for Africa, Asia, and South America.
Food Waste - I started with a list of food storage solutions, but it needs to be fleshed out, maybe with that Life Expectancy: Pro: Con: Solution: format. Not sure "Energy Source:" fits, but maybe we could list "Materials:" instead?
Food & Methane page request. I'd like the methane info copy/pasted from Food, then we can link to Food and Methane from the Food and Livestock pages.
The Livestock has been broken up into smaller pages. Need to tidy up the original page, and make sure the sub-pages are fleshed out and tidied up.
A teacher requested class plans and educational resources for teaching kids about climate change, eco-friendly solutions, technology, etc.
Same teacher requested info about designing, planning, planting, and funding for school gardens. We have some for certain locations, but more resources would probably be good, especially a focus on outdoor lesson plans. I've seen stuff like kids using sticks, leaves, rocks, flowers, etc. for math lessons, art, biology, etc.
School trip and program options - keep an eye out on the websites of conservation groups for their educational packets, school trips, public speaking, and similar opportunities. Some have special event like clean ups, nature/educational walks, or they'll come to schools to do plantings and other activities. There's also a need for funding, with some organizations giving grants to schools to pay for bussing the kids to national parks or museums.
How To: Walk & Bike to School Program has a pre-filled in safety audit sheet, but it would probably be good to have/find/make one that people can just download, print, and use themselves. The spot is marked with a comment about this in orange/red to make it easier for us to find
The Water page focuses on top and lower end ways to reduce our impact, but the medium level options focus on industrial uses. I wanted to list industries or products at least from greatest water use to lesser, but have been struggling to find this info.
Need a "Water Harvesting via Landscaping" page. Ask SheilaStretch for the notes to get this page started. It's pretty fleshed out, so will mostly just need to be formatted. Then linked to the Water Harvesting and Water pages.
Use the Page Checklist to help keep page formatting somewhat consistent, and other info like how to organize a section (order of importance or alphabetically), as well as tips for vetting sources or organizations.
