Action on Empty Homes "There are nearly 700,000 homes in England that are unfurnished and standing empty. Over 265,000 of these are classed as ‘long-term empty’. When we add in holiday short-lets and second homes, total vacancy sits at over 1 million homes, meaning that across England, 1 in every 25 homes is empty.

This is wasted housing stock that urgently needs to be recycled. In the midst of a housing crisis, we cannot afford to waste homes. In England, over 300,000 people are trapped in often poor quality, insecure Temporary Accommodation whilst many more rough sleep.

Bringing empty homes back into use is far more environmentally friendly than building the equivalent new builds. It’s time for action on empty homes."

Casa Alianza México "Somos una Institución de Asistencia Privada fundada en 1988 por el abogado y filántropo Luis Creel Carrera, quien durante un viaje que realizó a Nueva York se encontró con 2 jóvenes que huían de quienes los habían sometido a explotación sexual. Al día siguiente leyó en los periódicos el acontecimiento; lamentablemente los jóvenes habían fallecido. Una de las notas cerraba con la frase “No todo está perdido, hay una luz de esperanza y esa es la puerta roja”. Al leer esto se dirigió al lugar mencionado en la nota, aparentaba ser una pequeña casa con puerta roja; en el lugar le explicaron la labor que realiza Covenant House, organización que atiende a jóvenes que viven en las calles, víctimas de abuso y explotación los cuales identifican la puerta roja como un espacio que les brinda bienestar y seguridad. Después de conocer esta labor decidió adoptar el modelo de intervención de Covenant House International a las condiciones específicas de México para atender a niños, niñas y adolescentes en situación vulnerable."

The People’s Project "we support people who are experiencing homelessness in our community. In Aotearoa, this means people sleeping rough or living in a vehicle. It also means people who have no permanent or safe accommodation of their own, such as those couch-surfing, living in over-crowded houses with others, or living in emergency housing.

We have services supporting people experiencing homelessness in Hamilton and Tauranga.

We specialise in supporting adults (18 years old and over) without dependent children.

We have an open-door policy. People can come to the office and talk to our friendly team to see how we might support you. You don’t need a referral.

Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) or (Homeless Workers' Movement "an urban social movement that fights for low-income housing rights in Brazil." "Brazil’s Landless Workers Movement, Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST) in Portuguese, is a mass social movement, formed by rural workers and by all those who want to fight for land reform and against injustice and social inequality in rural areas.

The MST was born through a process of occupying latifundios (large landed estates) and become a national movement in 1984. Over more than two decades , the movement has led more than 2,500 land occupations, with about 370,000 families - families that today settled on 7.5 million hectares of land that they won as a result of the occupations. Through their organizing, these families continue to push for schools, credit for agricultural production and cooperatives, and access to health care.

Currently, there are approximately 900 encampment holding 150,000 landless families in Brazil. Those camped, as well as those already settled, remain mobilized, ready to exercise their full citizenship, by fighting for the realization of their political, social economic, environmental and cultural rights."
