Fires can be caused by humans or nature, but the chances of serious wildfires that rage out of control are increased by the effects of climate change and invasive species.

Wildfire damage can remove important root networks after the local plants have been burned away, increasing the risk of mud or landslides.

Conservation Grazing

Conservation grazing can reduce the chances of out-of-control wildfires, which in turn reduces the risk of mud or rock slides.

Plant & Protect Trees

Trees protect and support mountains in a variety of ways. The leaves help reduce erosion from above, while the roots help stabilize and hold the rocks and soil around them steady against the elements. 

In addition, trees and other plants can help water penetrate the soil, replenishing aquifers below, even helping to contribute to maintenance or creation of mountain springs.
